For nearly 40 years, Haven Hills has been a beacon of hope for victims of domestic violence – we offer lifesaving support and resources to anyone looking for the courage and strength to leave an abusive relationship. We provide shelter, counseling and a 24-hour crisis line to give our clients the opportunity to live free from violence. Often we hear from our client’s and we love to share their stories. Haven Hills is one of only two domestic violence shelters in the San Fernando Valley. We provide emergency and transitional shelters, counseling and a crisis line, and the opportunity to live a life free from violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Haven Hills’ Executive Director Iliana Tavera will join a discussion to raise awareness about the issues facing victims and survivors of domestic violence, and the organizations providing life-saving safety and shelter to these populations. Haven Hills is pleased to announce that it is 1 of 150 Domestic Violence Shelters to receive $20,0000 from The Mary Kay Foundation. 
“We are incredibly grateful for support from The Mary Kay Foundation℠ and its commitment to break the cycle of domestic violence,” said Iliana Tavera, Executive Director. This grant supports our efforts in providing critical, life-saving and life-changing services for thousands of women, men, and children in Los Angeles. Each year we empower over 3,000 women and men find the strength within themselves to break the cycle of abuse and to build a new, productive and positive life for themselves and their children.

In the United States three women are murdered by their current or former partners every day. Intimate partner violence is the leading cause of female homicide and injury-related death during pregnancy. Domestic violence affects families at all socio-economic and education levels, and all ethnicities.
